President’s Awards for Scientific Research 2019 & 2020
Building a vibrant scientific and technological community in the country being a main objective of the NRC, the special program designed and implemented since 1999 is the NRC President’s Awards for Scientific Research (PASR) program, well known to the scientific community of Sri Lanka. It recognizes a distinguished piece of Sri Lankan research and bestowing awards from the President of Sri Lanka, as a national honor to efforts of our scientists.

The President’s Awards for Scientific Research (PASR) for publication years 2019 and 2020 was held on the 21st November 2023 at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Exposition Centre of the BMICH, Colombo 07.

The PASR event was held to felicitate the authors and inventors of publications and patents of years 2019 and 2020. Conferred 598 awards to 485 scientists, for their scientific significance exhibited during years 2019 and 2020.

NRC understands the importance of PASR awards for the scientific community. Therefore, the function was planned for years 2019 and 2020, with limited time and limited finances amidst the economic crisis, in order to expedite awarding the certificates.

The President’s Awards for Scientific Research was held on 26th August 2019 at the Taj Samudra Hotel, Colombo. The ceremony was graced by His Excellency the President Maithripala Sirisena and the Minister of Science, Technology and Research Hon. Sujeewa Senasinghe. Awards were given for the best papers published in prestigious journals where a significant contribution had been made by scientists working in Sri Lanka.

The President’s Awards for Scientific Publication was held on 19th November 2018. This year 338 Sri Lankan scientists with a Sri Lankan institutional affiliation received awards for their research published in 2016. The ceremony was graced by His Excellency the President.

The President’s Awards for Scientific Publication was held on 6th November 2017. This year 294 Sri Lankan scientists with a Sri Lankan institutional affiliation received awards for their research published in 2015. The ceremony was graced by His Excellency the President and the Hon. State Minister of Science, Technology and Research.

The President’s Awards for Scientific Publication was held on 22nd November 2016. This year, 232 Sri Lankan scientists with a Sri Lankan institutional affiliation received awards for their research published in 2014. The ceremony was graced by His Excellency the President, the Hon. Minister of Science, Technology and Research and the Hon. State Minister of Science, Technology and Research.

The President’s Awards for Scientific Publication was held on 18th November 2015. This year 210 Sri Lankan scientists with a Sri Lankan institutional affiliation received awards for their research published in 2013. The ceremony was graced by His Excellency the President and the Hon. Minister of Science, Technology and Research.

The President’s Awards for Scientific Publication was held on 31st October 2014. This year 503 Sri Lankan scientists with a Sri Lankan institutional affiliation received awards for their research published in 2010, 2011 and 2012. The ceremony was graced by His Excellency the President and the Hon. Minister of Technology and Research.

President’s Award for Scientific Publication – 2007,2008 and 2009 ceremony was held on 17th January 2014 at Grand ballroom, Waters Edge, Colombo. Chief guest of the function was Hon. Mr. Patali Champika Ranawaka, Minister of Technology and Research. Around 460 scientists were awarded representing the fields of Medical Sciences, Dentistry, Agricultural Sciences, and Engineering etc.

Presidential Awards for Scientific Research – 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 ceremony was held on 27th July 2010 at Temple Trees. 383 scientists were awarded by H. E. the President Mahinda Rajapakse.

Presidential Awards for Scientific Research – 2002 ceremony was held on 20th October 2008 at Presidential Secretariat. 208 scientists were awarded by H. E. the President Mahinda Rajapakse.
