NRC and Sri Lanka Clinical Trials Registry Successfully Conduct Workshop on Interventional Research

Workshop on Interventional Research

Colombo, 10 July 2026 – The National Research Council (NRC) of Sri Lanka, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Clinical Trials Registry (SLCTR), successfully conducted a Workshop on Interventional Research on 10 July 2026 at the Lavender Hall, BMICH, Colombo. The workshop was organized to commemorate World Clinical Trials Day 2026 and to strengthen the knowledge and capacity of researchers engaged in clinical and interventional research.
The workshop brought together NRC grant recipients, clinical trialists, researchers, healthcare professionals, postgraduate trainees, and other stakeholders interested in clinical trial registration and interventional research. The programme aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of the importance of conducting high-quality interventional research and the requirements for registering clinical trials in Sri Lanka.
The event commenced with a welcome address, followed by a series of interactive sessions led by experts from the Sri Lanka Clinical Trials Registry. The discussions focused on the importance of interventional research, clinical trial protocol development, the regulatory framework governing clinical trials, and the clinical trial registration process in Sri Lanka.
Participants also had the opportunity to engage in practical discussions on common challenges encountered during trial registration, including documentation requirements, regulatory procedures, and strategies to facilitate timely and compliant registration of clinical studies.
Clinical trial registration plays a vital role in ensuring transparency, ethical conduct, accountability, and public accessibility of research findings. Through this workshop, participants gained practical knowledge and guidance that will support the efficient implementation of high-quality clinical research while promoting compliance with national and international standards.
