Objectives<\/h2>\n

To provide evidence on the optimal type of hysterectomy in terms of cost-effectiveness by way of a three arm randomised controlled trial between non descend vaginal hysterectomy, total laparoscopic hysterectomy and total abdominal hysterectomy.<\/p>\n

1. To find out the time to recover after surgery (earliest time to resume all of the following activities; resumption of cooking, washing clothes, sexual activity and occupation) following TLH, NDVH and TAH.<\/p>\n

2. To find out the operative time, post-operative hospital stay following TLH, NDVH and TAH.<\/p>\n

3. To calculate the total cost per surgery from a societal perspective for TLH, NDVH and TAH.<\/p>\n

4. To calculate the QALYs for each of the three types of hysterectomy at the end of one year.<\/p>\n

5. To evaluate the urinary, sexual and bowel function following hysterectomy.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
